Happy new week friends,
I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals, fulfilling your Purpose and making the world a better place.
Will Smith, in the movie, After Earth said; “You have to remember, fear is not real. It is a product of the thoughts you create. Danger is very real but fear is a choice”. This choice as he meant is the price you have to pay. You won’t fulfill your purpose without pain. So many factors would rise as obstacles, unending dangers would surface but, you’ve got to soil your hands with your sweats because the harder glory comes to you, the greater your fulfillment is.
Richard Branson is a quintessential entrepreneur who started a magazine when he was sixteen, a mail-order record business when he was twenty, opened a chain of record stores when he was twenty-two and then went on to create Virgin Records, Virgin Airlines, Virgin Express, Virgin Mobile, Virgin Money, Virgin Hotels, Virgin Fuel, Virgin Cruises and Virgin Galactic.
In all of these, growth was evident because he took a series of steps that ordinarily looks like failure. Virgin Records which was his second investment only lasted for a few years before finding itself in a financial struggle. He took a step to sell it at $1 billion, an action with a lot of consequences.
In his words, “it was mentally traumatic” but he didn’t let that stop him. He used the spoils from this sale to begin Virgin Radio which eventually led to V2, his second record label. Branson had more Virgin ventures rolled out and in due to their failure in the market, but those failures only paved way for more successes. Never for a moment did he go into his shell; rather, he learned from every single failure of his and used it as a stepping stone to future success. In his book, Screw it, Let’s do it, he highlighted his perspective to consequences by concluding “But what is worse: making the occasional mistake or having a close mind and missing opportunity”
Commitment is a tested parameter that makes for success. You can’t be too careful when it comes to taking the bull by its horns, you either keep standing or fall. And when you fall, you stand back again. When you go after your heart dreams, visions and goals, life will test you to see how badly you want them. There is a place of trials or testing for every dream. So when they come, don’t give up. If you are willing to make a strong commitment to your dream and you decide to meet all challenges with a determined attitude, then life and problems must allow you passage into your promised land.
Nothing else would have explained Branson’s tenacity if not commitment. Let me make it noteworthy here that, “no great thing was ever achieved without commitment”. Some will complain of time, money, background et al, but then “you only have time for what you are committed to”. You have to start acting now by setting your priorities right towards achieving your goals. Your dreams will remain dreams without anticipation towards achieving the same. If you don’t anticipate your cravings, then you would be open to pressure being unfulfilled.
These are a few things to do to align your commitment to success.
1. Always finish whatever you’ve begun. Don’t be those who start and not finish!
2. I will do it tomorrow practically makes one do nothing. Don’t procrastinate!
3. Give your dream all attention! Inventors shun distraction in their pursuit of a breakthrough.
4. Take risks, but then, risk is relative so don’t be stupid.
Remember, your success is on the crux of how bad you want it. It’s up to you!
